I hem my DH pants too. He did the weekly house work for me so I could go to Chicago for the quilt show yesterrday. He's a keeper and I will hem and mend for him....but nobody else. I do alterations for the bridal shop 3 days a week and that is enough.

There is no hemming here. When you are over 6 feet tall you don't cut hems off anything. In fact, you don't put things in the dryer because you don't want them to shrink. I do not like to mend anything, but for my husband I would mend anything, because he is so good to me. It would take a life time to get him paid back. I realize I lucked out finding him and thank the good Lord everyday for him.

I agree....and the most important part of your motto is 'My time'!!!!! The older I get the more valuable my time is!!!

I have put a zipper in hubby's leather jacket and fixed his co-worker's gloves. Once someone knows you sew they love your help.
It worked out well one time -- his boss wanted me to sew some kite bags for him. They turned out well and he paid me $40 above the price of materials. Then again, it would cost him $40 for one bag online, lol! Of course mine were so well constructed. I had fun chatting with people who had used that type of material before. I learned to seal the edge of it with a hot flame, fingers got burnt trying to use a lighter. I had seen a tute about using a candle, but of course the flame moves around... DH brought home a little torch I could use. It was ripstop fabric.
Someone mentioned hemming JCP's pants, I think they used to do that for free if you bought a suit.
Anyhow, I love to fix things for DH since he fixes everything he can for me.

Hate mending, I don't even like to sew clothes anymore even for myself, but to get what I want I have to. I really want to scream when people say .. you need the money make me a dress, cover these cushions etc. yes I need the money but grit my teeth the whole time.. hating every minute of it.
