How wonderful of your DD to invite you to stay Christmas Eve :D:D:D

One of our favorite childhood gifts, was a box of individually wrapped toys from our Aunt and Uncle :D:D:D

Great idea!

I replied whatever was convenient for her though I would rather not drive in the dark (it's a narrow, winding levee road with ditches on both sides). She replied to come early and stay the night, drink some eggnog with her.

A few moments later it hit me that I would then be there on Christmas morning with the three grandkids. I got tears in my eyes quite suddenly.

I hadn't really thought about that. I didn't expect to see them then. I know that it's an honor and a privaledge to be asked to spend that time with her family. I was out shopping yesterday and passing all these little things that I would have got for my kids' stockings. I wanted to get some but I thought, that's not my job to do anymore and I don't want to step on her toes.
Hard to "pass the torch" isn't it?

I usually have 26 stocking hung at my house, one for each child and their spouse and each of the grandkids and my mother in law, and my granddaughter insisted the 3 dogs should have a stocking also lol, you're never to old for a stocking

That is a good idea to get something for the grownups. I am not totally sure if they have stockings. I know the kids do since they lived with me until a couple of years ago.

Hmmm... I'll have to go out this weekend.

We have been married for 48 years and still I would be upset if my stocking was not filled on Christmas morning! I admit he has slacked up the last couple of years but still he goes through the motions.

I would still get something for Mom and dads stockings :) Since you were the original santa to your daughter :)
