I'm off this week, and I accomplished some projects I really wanted to get done. :D
1. I finished the Black & White Splash
2. The stalls were cleared out, then one cubic yard of soil was moved from the back of a truck--into wheelbarrows--into the stalls. It was then tamped down and everything was put back in... and I did it all-by-myself while Mark was at work. He was impressed and wanted to feel my muscles.
Here are two out of the five stalls I added to: the mares' luxury suites. Gypsy only sleeps in the very back--so I piled all her shavings and straw back there.

Here they are thanking me.

3. Mark rolled the pastures!

4, Jenny, Justin's girl, and I put all the white tape around the pastures where foals will roam. It took two hours. (I feel it helps them to see the wire fence and helps to keep them on the right side of that fence. Foals stay in the paneled pastures until they are at least a week old. )

5. I ground drove Jazz--the first go since he was gelded. :D

6., 7., 8., 9., 10...... and I stared at the mares--a LOT.

You put me to shame, BUT I am making progress on the little girls dresses. I will not ask to feel your muscles as I'd bet they are pretty sore. Mine stayed sore the whole summer I worked the horse program from camp and I didn't have to do all the stalls, I had help.
Hugs,
Sharon

Loretta--I love those lights--it makes it feel so cozy. Kennedy says the foals will be like Christmas presents under the lights. :D But their real purpose is to make the horses show up on the monitor... too dark other wise and I feel those lights don't disturb the horses too much.
Sharon--I was very surprised I wasn't sore this morning--but I wasn't! I think the muscles are still good from all the snow shoveling.

Nice pictures. You HAVE been busy! Thanks for sharing.
What does "ground drove" mean?
I am new to these gorgeous creatures, which ones are which? I know they all have names, but I don't know which are which. Who is the golden one?

Great pics Karla...but then again, they are always great pix!
Love the lights in the barn. So pretty and adds that spa like feeling for them. :)
I just want to hug on all of them. :) :) :)
Another year to go......ok, actually 11 months and counting!

Shemjo--
Here you go:
Pic #3 the one you see clearly is Whisper (these are barn names--I'm not sure you want to deal with registered names. ). She's a 4 year old filly, Gypsy's daughter.
Pic#4 are Chloe and Gypsy--pregnant mares--due soon!
Pic #5 is Gypsy again
Pic 6 is Rosie--my 2 year old wonder. She is Gypsy and Jazz's first foal. Her registered name is Little Church Remembers Rosa Adell after my grandmother.
Pic 10 is my former sire, now gelding, Jazz.
Pic 11 are Gypsy and Chloe again.
Pic 12 is Gypsy, again.
How's that? :D
Ground driving is when you train a horse to drive or pull a cart. I'm not using a cart because I love the exercise.. and am scared of crashing.  Drivin'*me*buggy and her daughter helped me to get Jazz started in the bit. I use a bridle and other stuff on him so he thinks he's pulling a cart- --here's a pic to help illustrate it.
The first is is of me working him today, the second was in just his halter to get used to having pressure on both sides... the last is working him in the bridle and bit. It shows how small they are too. :D
