    Default Think back--button string toy?

Does anyone remember playing with a 4 hole large button threaded on a heavy piece of string or yarn? I don't remember everything , but want to make one to entertain my grandson away from his Video games. Thanks

Yep, but 2 large buttons with string through them. The string should form a continuous loop after threading through 2 holes on each button. You put the loops over your hands and wind the string a few times by rotating the buttons. When you pull your hands outward, the string winds (sp)causing the buttons to clap together.

ps. While it shouldn't be a problem with a boy, watch out for long hair. It hurts like the dickens when it gets caught in the string.

I totally remember those we used 1 button though. After twisting it a few times the movement of your hands closer together and further apart making it spin and create a whirring sound. Best part is when I read the title of your post I was hoping that was what you were talking about.

I think mine had three buttons. 2 smaller ones for your hands to hold and a large one in the middle. I loved them.

All my grandkids played with them. I made sure grandbaby girl had her hair up in a pony tail bun. I had many cut out of my hair by my grandmother. She didn't have any second thoughts to cutting anything out of our hair. Said it would grow back, live with it. LOL

WOW WOW Long forgotten toy, we played hours with these , we had to make our own toys when I was growing up. Fun times, paper dolls out of catalog's, kitchen match boxes for their beds ..
