I have been safety-pin basting my quilts, but the other night I was feeling adventurous/lazy so thought I would try this old can of basting spray that I have. It was stinky but it went quick and held all three layers together during my FMQ the other night. I am kind of impressed. I had no tucks with that, vs the couple I usually get with the pins. I had just resigned myself to the fact that tucks in the backing were gonna have to be design elements.

I have two quilts to do for my girls and the back is minkee, or cuddle, whatever ya call it. Have you done the basting spray with that stuff with any success?

I have not used minke. I do have a friend that has several times. What she does is spray baste and quilt with a muslin backing and then add the Minke and tack it in a couple of places. Because of the stretch in it, it is hard to quilt without it bunching on you. That way the Minke is nice and soft and she doesn't have to fight the quilt to quilt it.

She does spray baste the Minke, then tacks it and binds as usual.
