Default iPad vs other?

It seems my iPad (second one in 4yrs) may have to be replaced.......I'm thinking maybe another kind would serve the same purpose.....is that possible? Suggestions?

I have an android tablet from Verizon that I am very happy with, but when its time to upgrade I'm going to switch to a kindle fire. My brother, daughter and granddaughters all have the kindles, love them & seem to be much better at some things. Since I am an Amazon prime subscriber it makes sense for me to change over. My old boss has had an iPad for a number of years & it seems like she has problems all the time, sometimes going days without being able to access her mail. After watching all her issues for the past 2years, her taking it to the Apple store for help every week or two it would be a last resort & I think I'd just do without. ( she says she likes it though.... Doesn't want something different)

Just curious, what problems did you have with your iPads?

Yesterday I was on it looking to get directions for an address- locally- from mapquest...when suddenly this message came on saying something about an error...with an http addy, saying the os is in danger......along with an 877# to call to be connected to!a live tech......after trying to shut down/ reopen, only to find that same pop up message, I called the number - answered by someone with a very heavy Indian accent and poor connection...told him my situation......he stated that this could be corrected by him on line for $39.95---- I said no thanks and hung up. So this morning, tried to get on safari thru iPad......same message, but I am here on my iPad.....I don't understand....I will call the apple store, make an appt and see what they say ........the store is about 35 miles away, not convenient and this thing is out of warranty of course!

That is what is called Ransomware. It's a scam but will disable your computer. Google Ransomware Removal. The most important thing is to protect your computer from getting it.

We have several tablets but I like Kindle Fire. DH loves his Komando tablet. Our old Ipad didn't last very long so we didn't buy another. I bought a cheap no name one at Walmart for the grands to use and it is still working great for their games and movies.

I bought an Android pad from Costco for $149.00 and I am happy with what I wanted it for, another way of watching TV. It is a large 10" so it is heavy but I don't take it with me when I am out and about. You have to decided what the qualities you want in a tablet and then go looking for one that will suit your needs.

I, too, have an android tablet and am very happy with it. I do not have voice capabilities with it so I can only use internet via wifi but I bought it with that knowledge and desire. I did not have a smartphone at the time so got a smaller (8") tablet so that I COULD be out and about with it if needed to access internet while out. Since I now have a smartphone I really don't carry it while out but do still use it at home both free-standing and online. It is a Samsung Galaxy and has full version MS office pre-installed which was also a necessary feature for me when initially shopping.

Check out the Surface Pro, which is windows based. I like it much better than any of the others I have tried due to the fact it has a USB port that allows to load external programs on by using an external CD reader.
