Okay ladies and gents, I've gone over (in my mind) all the things we've done for Taboo Tuesday (and Teriffic Tuesday) like smaller plate size, smaller portions, less sugar, etc, etc and one thing we haven't done in a long while is a cleansing day. So this weeks Taboo Tuesday is a cleansing day. Sometime during this next week, take one day to have just juices and water and allow the body to cleanse. Now, I know some specific medical problems will make this impossible, but you can cleanse as best you can within your specific limits. I plan to try today and have only liquids throughout the day (breakfast and lunch) until dinner tonight (and then it's very light). Good Luck everyone!

Thank you, Kathleen. I haven't done one in a while and tomorrow will be perfect. I want to reduce my sugar consumption and a cleanse day will be an excellent start.

The scrappy quilt is off the wall, now to build it a back and quilt it. Do any of you who made one have any ideas for the large plain sections? My quilting skills are limited, but I'm open to ideas. I may have to try my first small stipple. I hope it doesn't make the area stiff.

Cindy, I like your signature line about fabric. I've felt the same way in the two years I've been quilting. I'm pulling batiks for a table runner as soon as my tutoring student leaves today. I may have to set up another machine so I get can the scrappy quilted and the Spicy Spiral started.

I am losing weight and getting healthier.

Well, I won't be winning the FQ's this month. I've held my own, but dropped none!! Oh well. At least I didn't gain, that's always a good thing. Having my gallbladder out has been interesting. I'm still adjusting and the Dr. said it could take as long as a year for my system to adjust. Oh well, I keep trying different things.

Now I just need to get busy finishing up some UFO's and getting some other things started. Working out the kinks of a pattern these last couple days. Hoping to get it together as my quilting group wants to make it in a couple weeks and i need to get the measurements to them. Can't wait to see it done!!!! I'll try and remember to post pics when I finish it.
The trouble with Trouble is.....It usually starts out like fun!!

well, as I presumed, my scale happily shows that I am building some muscle, so I am a happy camper.
Now to get it to drop some more.

Hi everyone. I sure hope that everyone had a successful weight loss this month.
This was my very first one I joined thanks to my good buddy Patti (painiacs) who we joined together as a team.

Due to unseen circumstances in my personal life, I can not participate in Feb or March as I truly wanted to.
My husband suffers from mental illness (paranoia schitzophrenia)and has for a number of years from being in the military in Viet Nam. Over the past year or so, he has gotten worse and today things were horrible awful and he beat me up. I had to call the police and have him arrested. And that was no easy challenge to do as he took our only cell phone from me as I was dialing 911. I was able to get to a safe place to get help. I, after MONTHS of soul searching and praying and praying and praying even harder, I have chosen to leave for not only my safety, but my mental and physical well being. I am SOO SOO afraid that if I were to stay with him, that one night I will fall asleep and never wake up as I think deep in my heart that he would kill me. That is the most horrific thought someone could have to think that could happen. I am only able to take a few things with me because I have no car now as he took the keys from me. I am only able to take some of my clothes, my medications and insulins, this laptop oh and he will be mad when he realizes that...and my sewing machine!!! I can't take any of my sewing stuff or fabrics oh and I have to take my walker. My sewing machine will fit in my suitcase and I don't have but a few changes of clothes. I would so much appreciate it if you could keep me and him too in your prayers. I am so worried that he will try or succeed at commiting suicide. But I can not let that worry me into feeling guilty for having to leave. I hope that you all understand and not think bad about me. We had 11 wonderful years together. He was and still is and always will be my best friend. Here is my email address if anyone wants to keep in touch with me. I don't know how often I will be able to be on the internet but I will do my best to get on to come and check and see how everyone is doing on the Weight challenge. ))

Now...for my numbers.......On January 1, 2013, I weighed in at my doctors office at 256 pounds. Today I weigh 232 pounds. ) For a total weight loss of 24 pounds for the month of January.

Its been a hard struggle for me. I don't want to drink any more water!!! But I will keep drinking water. I stopped drinking diet soda on Jan 1st also and that was really hard to do as I was addicted. Yes I have had a diet pepsi on occasion. I walked alot..more then I ever thought I would be able to walk but with the help of my rollater walker I did it.

In my heart I really hope that I have won the challenge, but if I don't that is okay too. ))
I will always ALWAYS love my husband no matter what I married him for better or for worse but the worse is more then I can handle anymore.

I am very glad that I was able to participate in the January challenge. Good luck to everyone that goes forward with the next months challenge. God Bless you all.

Patti....(painiacs).....I LOVE YOU MY friend. )

Oh my, Airwick! I'm so glad you got out of there! You did the right thing by leaving. When you are in fear of your life that's all you can do. Let us know when you get settled someplace and I will send you some fabric. A quilter can't be without fabric!
I'm pretty sure you will be the biggest loser this month. 24 lbs! Wow! Good for you. You must notice a big difference in just getting around.

Airwick, so sorry this has happened!! Glad that you got out. Can you get a police man or someone to help you get back and grab some of your clothes and things? Is there a time when he is regularly not home that you can get in.
Stay away from him, but if you have a couple of other people with you.....
Congrats on your weight loss, that is quite the loss!!!! I hope you are eating enough to stay healthy and not get sick!

Airwick, you did what you needed to do. I'm sorry you had to go through a beating - no one should ever have that happen. Check in here when you can. You should be able to go back for your things with a police escort - do you have a place for you and you belongings? Very impressive weight loss! I'll send a bright FQ to go with the neutral when you are ready.

    Ladies,

Just a reminder that if you sent in for more than one month, you still need to sign up each month on the thread for the new month.

IF you have any questions about it, message me.

I am ready for a 3 day weekend. I will be working on my quilt again so I can finish it.

I have only heard from a few with how much weight you lost in January. At 9 pm CST tonight, I will declare the winner. I know it will not be me as I gained 8 lbs with starting on the insulin again. UGH I will take it back off.

Keep up all your hard work and efforts.

Cindy, I didn't PM about the weight loss because it stayed the same. Guess that's good, somewhat, but sure is maddening that you try and lose nothing. GIve someone else my FQ, er skinny quarter.

I ate about 5 of my chocolate cookies yesterday. I sent the rest of them to my DH shop to get them out of the house. He was plowing snow yesterday. He had 2 young guys working with him. They are gone. Yeah!!! Kathleen I don't see any reason we can't repeat some of the taboo Tuesdays since I know I apparently didn't learn very well the first time.
I found a Weight Watcher meeting on Monday that will work for me. I will stop in MOnday and join. They do have WW at work but it is held at the board office and is 1 1/2 hours after I get off of work. I would have to find something to do during that time and I would probably end up at the mall which could get expensive. I have been trying to WW on my own but something about someone else seeing my weight every week just helps me. Also I follow so much better when I go to the meetings. Not doing very well on my own.
Drink your water, eat your veggies and fruit. Exercise!

This months winners is Airwick156, with a loss of 24 lbs. Congrats to Airwick156. I will be holding on to hers until she gets settled with all she is currently going through.

They are in the envelope with her name on it when she lets me know where to send them to. I have sent her a message to her private email.

    Keep her in your prayers.

I hope that I am putting this in the right place.
I am so very excited and thankful for winning the first time that I joined the weight loss adventure. I was so surprised when I was able to check my email and I saw an email from Cindy.

I am going through a very difficult time right now and I beg any or all of you that if you are in ANY type of an abusive relationship that you GET HELP.

My husband suffers from paranoia schitzophrenia and was never abusive to me or if he was I was not aware of it. But then just one day everything manifested and he exploded and took his anger out on me and he hurt me. I called the police and he was arrested but they let him out the next day. But if I were to have stayed in that house I truly feel in my heart that he would have killed me. But I am safe now. Pleaseeeeeeeeeee if your in an abusive situation get help before it is too late.

Thank you everyone for the fun I had with the weight challenge. I lost 24 pounds which is the most I have lost in so many years. I am going to try my hardest NOT to put the weight back on and that in itself may be a challenge in the situation that I am in now. But I am going to try my best.

Ok, I am on board, and in time for the weight loss adventure. Congratulations Airwick156 for winning, and I am sorry to read about what you are going through. I prayed for both of you. A year ago I had lost 70 pounds with more needed to lose, but then my precious mother died, so I didn't care about my weight then. I am now ready to deal with it again to feel better, look better, and for my family. I also battle the meds I am on when losing weight, and have hypothyroid, lupus, sjogren's, and fibromyalgia, so i have no energy. I am back on what I used before which is tracking calories on Livestrong program on the internet. It helps me to have a tracking tool like that to use to easily keep up with my weight, water intake, etc. Glad to be a part of this with everyone here.

Congrats Airwick156... Keep on keeping on i know things are tough right now... I'm keeping you in my prayers. Remember you are worth taking care of. It's a great thing to tell yourself "I'm worth taking care of" it helped me on my wt loss journey remain focused on self-care (a foreign concept for alot of us). It also served to remind me that eating over whatever life throughs my way goes against my worth... Bless you my friend!!
