What is your least favorite part of quilting? I have decided mine is pressing. I'd been done with this quilt a long time ago if I had a personal presser. It's a good thing I like coral and bright scraps otherwise I'd be even more bored. I have such a low tolerance for anything repetitious. Okay, enough whining.

Nice quiet day today. I wanted to go get my hair cut, but I talked myself out of going anywhere. I can do it tomorrow if I don't have boys to watch. I can't say babysit - they are 10 and 13 and both outweigh me. The 13 yo needs transportation - their mother works Friday evenings and the 10 yo is too young to stay alone. We are expected a lot of snow so I don't think I'll have them. My daughter isn't a confident driver and doesn't believe the rest of us don't mind so she probably won't let J go to the Y. M is gluten free and hungry for pizza, so I know what I'll be making if they do come over.

I wish us all a clean eating 24 hours. One day at a time. J

Irish, I would have to agree on that. The final pressing once all the blocks are together to get the seams to go right and all, I don't enjoy that process. Right now I have a queen size quilt that I should finish all the sewing on tomorrow but it will take me half the day to press that puppy!

It does not get REAL COLD here, though last week in the 50's we southern Californian's froze our tails off, still I didn't go out walking cause it was too cold. I'm a wimp, I admit it!!!

I enjoy the pressing process - but then, I like to do the binding on quilts as well. The pressing is rather soothing to me - I do some deep thinking (for me, as deep as I can LOL) and try to solve the problems of the world - well trying to solve the problems of why that piece of fabric is still standing up! I don't mind standing and I know some of us have problems with that. I do have problems with my wrist, so sometimes my hand is quite uncomfortable because of the pressure I put on the wrist to press. Wish I lived closer to either of you, I'd press for you.

I dont mind the pressing, I don't like the binding. I have several quilts to get done, have lost my motivation to get them done. My plan for tomorrow is to work on the college t-shirt quilt, get the top put together, I have the shirts framed and ready to go, now jut need to get them sewn together.

Off to get ready for work. Have a blessed day.

It's the repetitious pressing that gets to me like the flying geese for the mystery quilt. Blocks aren't too bad because there are fewer pieces then and the whole quilt means I get to see it together so that's exciting. Besides, if I've pressed the blocks well and then the connecting seams as I go, it means only one or two seams need pressing. My other pressed parts stay pressed.

Cindy, isn't the t-shirt quilt a customer quilt? I'd be finishing that one though personally I'd never agree to do one.

My friend on dialysis is ill today so I don't have that to do, but my SM tension is acting up. I may have to replace the spring. I've never taken a tension apart, but the book gives good directions so wish me luck. The first thing I need to do is pay some bills as the state very nicely put money in one of my bank accounts. When I look around, I feel very fortunate to be able to do so even if there's not much left. My ex-husband calls periodically so see if I need money. "No." I guess he finally realizes why things are they way they are. I wish there were no casinos around, but that's a whole 'nother story.

How do I go walking? I set a cut off temp - it used to be 10 below, but now I think it's closer to 2 below with no more than moderate winds. Then I dress appropriately and go out. All that ever gets cold are my hands (if I have to remove my gloves too often) and my cheeks and chin if I don't pull up my scarf and I rarely do. My feet and body are cozy. Painiacs, you are a little colder than I am, though Cadillac is colder than the rest of the LP. It still must be above zero in the middle of a sunny afternoon. I also would join the Y Senior Fit exercises if I weren't on track for SI joint surgery (between the back and hip). That's on hold because of the contaminated steroids.Three more people in this area became ill last week. How long will it be a problem? Neither the surgeon or I know. PBS has several exercise programs depending on your ability. I'm down to Sit and be Fit, but there's more there than you'd think.

I am losing weight and becoming healthier.

Okay, so it took 2 weeks for me to get started(sort of) and I still haven't started exercising again yet so I'm no threat to anyone this month. No idea why, I actually like exercising and have plenty of DVDs and weights at home plus a $10.00 a month gym close by. Soooooo...I will have to kick my own butt to get moving again. This is the first I've been on the thread this month and I read it from start to finish. I will have to start checking in more often for February. Sorry to hear your having to cope with some new health issues Cindy. It sounds as though some of you are doing really well this month-keep it up. I am determined to get back in the groove for February.

I am going through withdrawals today. For years I have gone to the Road to California Quilt show. None of my friends could go this year. I don't really have any money to spend and since I can't walk or be on my feet all day, I couldn't really go alone in a "chair". Sniff.... sniff....... I love going to that show. But I always spend a couple hundred between the show, gas to get there and food for the day. Maybe I should try and get in a couple hours of sewing.

Just whining and feeling sorry for myself!!!

yes the t-shirt quilt is for a customer, she is very patient and understanding. I could use the rest of the money that is owed on it, so I need to get it done quickly so I can get paid. My own fault.

I understand about not being able to go to your favorite quilt show, I missed mine last year, the Dallas quilt show. I was working and now that I am not working weekends I will go this year. Need to see when it is, sometime in March, I think.

Shadowirish - I'm soooo jealous!!!! My Ravens will be there....give a cheer for them from me!!! I'll be there in spirit, but watching from my couch at home.

Love all the piles of "skinny" quarters. I probably won't be winning them this month. Kinda stuck!! This weather has been bitter cold, so no walking outside. And with the flu bug going around we're shorthanded at work, which means I get OT, but screws with my schedule for "me" time. Oh well. I'm doing good on the wise choices, just need to get my butt moving again. Guess I better drag the treadmill out.
