I vote you stay where you are and be thankful for a good boss & his family. I worked in hospitals for years and last year I was in a Nursing Home when I needed Rehab, after having both knees replaced. I hated the Nursing Home and you're right about the smell. Being around sick folks on an ongoing basis can become depressing, so think long & hard about leaving a good work environment.
How about making lap quilts to donate to residents of the Nursing Home. There are a lot of ways to Volunteer without going to work at one. Good luck.

I have been out of work for 16 months now and would do anything to be in a work environment where I was treated like family. I would look for another part time job for now but I wouldn't leave a good solid job behind even if the hours were cut. Is there a chance the company might fold? If sothat would be the only reason I would quit the job you have. Jobs right now are hard to find and the competition is intense. If you feel insecure in your present job then go for the new one. You can get used to anything when you have to.

The nursing home job is not good for money making, It is and will remain a low paying job. So if you can afford to stay at your other job, I would. God bless. PS. the smell never gets better, I worked as a CNA for years, before I went to dental assistant work.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!! if I could afford to work only 3 days a week AND was able to sew at work too I'd be only too happy to work there. Stay and count your (stitches) blessings!

Stay where you are--you like the boss and the pay is good, plus it does not smell weird. Why not try to get a part time job for some of the days you do not work your current job? Personally, I would never trade good pay and a good boss for more hours.
