Count me in too Pat! You already have my Fat Quarter. I love the extra motivation I get from this board and my joints are loving any of the pounds that I am leaving behind. Continuing one day at a time. Hey on a really happy note I am once again able to squat since the removal of part of my meniscus in March. I never thought I would be able to lead going down on the right again but my therapist Kelley worked wonders with my recovery. I can't quite get into a squat like I used to, you know how a toddler will squat on flat feet? I used to squat that way before January 29th , now I have to be on my toes, but I can get down nearly all the way. I'll take it. Monday I will have a Monovisc injection to help with the arthritic pain that remains. It's funny, until i tore my meniscus, my knee never bothered me and I didn't know I had arthritis. Getting old is tough.

Getting old is tough! If I had known ten years ago that I would have this much trouble now, I would have done more to keep limber. My nurse practioner advises me to enroll in a yoga class; I've tried the yoga videos but not making much headway. And I used to walk 2 miles each day, now just going around the block is about all I can do before the knees start giving out. I tried water aerobics for people with arthritis and that was the most helpful so I hope to get back to it next week now that school is out. It gets disheartening some days ......

Welcome everyone. My knee is slowly recovering. I am still using one crutch. I go to the doctor on Monday to get the stitches out and get started on more intensive physical therapy. He said if I can't walk without limping to use one crutch. It is still stiff and sore, not too bad. I am going out today for the first real trip. I did get my hair cut the other day. I need to go to the library since I read the books I had. I was also going to head to the LQS. She has stairs so it will be slow going.
My sisters have brought food over a few times so eating hasn't been awful but not too good either. Hopefully I will be able to get some exercise in now.

Yoga has helped me SO much! I just take the gentle yoga to get a good stretch. I do a few downward dogs, but I don't want to do many sun salutations or any of the upside down poses. I'm upfront about that when I meet the instructor. My first instructor kept ignoring me and telling me I could and should do it. I stopped going to her - I know my limitations and no one is going to get me to stand on my head!! I've also stopped walking on cement. I walk on dirt, grass, trials through the woods, etc. If I walk on cement I can really feel it in my joints and all the way up my spine.

A 1 lb. gain for me for May, , but June is a new month. I'm reading Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the food giants hooked us by Michael Moss. Has anyone read that? I also ran into a neighbor who just returned from living overseas for 4 years. Both of these things encouraged me to go buy some organic vegetables. It's just hard to cook during the week when I come home so tired. It's easier to microwave frozen vegetables during the week. I think I'll save the fresh for weekends and frozen for during the week.

Here's to healthy choices today!

Wow there were some awesome weight loss totals for May. Keep up the good work. I will check and see if I have heard from everyone.
I go back to the doctor tomorrow to have my stitches removed and hear exactly what he did to my knee. He explains it all really well and shows pictures. Then I need to do PT. I ready to get back to normal. School is going on a field trip on Wednesday to the aquarium. I would love to go but there is no way I could keep up. Too much walking. There are also quite a few steps. After that go there they are going to walk across a walking bridge over the river. That is about 1 1/2 miles then the park for lunch. There is an option to take the bus and skip the river walk. Maybe I will schedule PT that day and take a sick day.
I didn't lose or gain again in May. I am back on track for June. Hopefully I can get back to getting some exercise.

Pat, that is a success to me, wish I could stay the same for even a week, my weight fluctuates that much! I'm really going to lose this 50 lbs. and then go on WW maintenance plan until I get it right this time, no matter how long it takes. I've had an amazing start the month of May but now I'll have to be satisfied with smaller losses and that is what usually causes me to lose control instead of weight. Good luck to all for the month of June and here's a big hug to get you started. (((((HUGS)))))
