Kalamaquilts, it sounds like your healing is going well. I do wish the same for me. Thursday willl be the first cast change and Xrays. Iwish the surgeon had waited fro 2 weeks instead of 10 days. I'm ready to have the staples out, but I'd like the pins in a little longer. Staples+cast+a little swelling is making today uncomfortable. Not too bad. Probably should have skipped church this week.

Teddybear Lady, good for you for the loss. Nothing succeeds like success and you are being successful!

I hope everyone is on the mend. So many of us with surgeries.
Here is some info about ordering fast food. Might be helpful for those times we find ourselves in a bind and that's the only option.

Kalama it sounds like you are healing well. Using a scissors and sewing so quickly after surgery sounds awesome. Irish I hope you dr visit and x-rays show proper healing. I am getting tired of my PT. I know I need to keep it up. I would just like to get back to normal. It is doing pretty well. Stairs and bending it are still an issue. I leave for Hilton Head SC on Thursday. I can't wait. I guess bicycling is out for this year. Hopefully I can do some walking on the beach. I will see what the PT says. I don't see the dr until July 8th.
We will be eating fast food while we drive. We usually eat while driving so that limits my options. I will do the best that I can. I need to get back to exercising.

The colors sound great for July, Aug, and Sept. I've been thinking about that, too. I certainly won't win this month. I'm afraid to step on the scales. Too many birthday parties with kids at school, and graduation parties for son and 4 nephews. I ate way too much in the way of sweets! It's disgusting. I'll try to get back on track after I'm out of school (Wed).

meanmom, my oldest daughter had her knee replaced April 14. Two weeks ago she was cleared for any activity she would like to do - no restrictions. Her surgeon said not to fall on it, but that was all. She will have the other one done this fall. Her younger sister has had both done with equally good results. I hope you do well and don't need a replacement, but it's nice to know there are successful ones being done.

I'm not looking forward to PT, but that's 6 weeks down the road at least. My favorite PT therapist has left town. Maybe I'lll skip it - I remember most of it and my wonderful massage therapist will do his magic when there's no cast.

Have a good trip. If I were traveling, I'd do Wendy's chili and baked potato with ice water.

Sounds great! I really don't need an excuse to buy fabric. I just like to buy FQ's ! haha

Meanmon,
Don't get discouraged about the recovery with your knee. I only had part of the meniscus removed when I had my arthroscopic surgery and it took about 10-12 weeks of rehab and then a Monovisc injection to help with the arthritic pain to finally feel like i do most things again. i still get some pain to the medial area of the knee where the meniscus was removed but nothing intolerable.
I will send in my fabrics for the next three months but I won't be able to log in for a couple of weeks in July as I am vacationing with my husband in Ireland and Scotland beginning on the the 8th of July. This is the first vacation we will be taking without any children in 37 years so it is long overdue. We were supposed to go at the end of March but that is when I was injured and subsequent surgery changed our plans.
I finally did some cutting for my grandson who will be born in July. I still need to cut out the appliques but at least other than that I will be able to start sewing on my next day off. My youngest daughter will be leaving to be a camp councilor for four weeks in West Virginia so I will have a bit more time to put into the quilt.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

I just received my very beautiful floral fabric from Pat for the May weight loss challenge. Thank you all! Don't know what I'll make with it but I'll keep you posted as soon as I know. Pray everyone is well and healing. I'm trudging along with my weight loss as I'm sure many are during this very busy party season, one more week to go for this month. I like the colors for the next 3 months, good choices.

I have been cleared by my PT to do pretty much anything that doesn't hurt. It is 4 weeks today since surgery. I have been on a recumbent bike in PT and yesterday I was able to get the pedals all the way around the whole time. I am hoping to get some bike riding in while in Hilton Head. I also can walk up and sometimes down stairs walking normally. It is still weak but coming along like it should. Something about the things the dr did in surgery makes it so my quadricep muscle doesn't want to fire. This is normal the PT tells me. I see the dr on July 8th and he will start the Monovisc injections again. I still need a total knee replacement, hopefully this will delay it a few years.
I leave for Hilton Head on Thursday so I will post the new thread tonight or tomorrow. I am SO ready for vacation. I am staying with my brother and SIL in their time share. My DD and her boyfriend are going. I am looking forward to spending some time with them. DD just graduated from college so due to her busy schedule we don't see a lot of her. Also I am looking forward to getting to know her boyfriend better, They have been dating 3 years but due to their crazy schedules we don't see a lot of him. He works most weekends and his mom is out of town so he visits her when he is off.
