Place mats, yes, Mug Rugs no, even though it's a good idea, especially since I have a glass table.
I first heard of them from my weaver sister--she made quite a few for her weaving shop back in the early 90's. I think the woven ones preceded the quilted ones, but am not sure.

Here is what I use:
A place for coffee, water, pop or tea
Whenever you use it, think of me.
Extra room for a little treat
Be it fruit or veggies or something sweet.

I too had not heard of a rug mug. I am still out on whether they are a good idea or not LOL, other than for pracice sewing quilts. Take care.
