Had landscaper add new soil and seed next to new driveway. Told me to be sure all the granules are swept off can pit new driveway. Tonight did one final sweep and came across a few granules that would not move so I picked them up and threw them on the lawn. Then later thought about how stupid that was, washed hands thoroughly, but wondered what might be a good thing to wash with to neutralize the action of the granules??? Unable to find any information on the net. Wonder if any QB friends might know the answer to this question?

No idea but think a good washing with soap and water should do the trick. My husband uses all kinds of things on the plants and lawn and he only washes with soap and water when he comes in.

I don't know either but hopefully a good wash of the hands did the trick.

It has iron in it and is bad for concrete. Just use soap and water to wash hands.

If you are still concerned, call the landscaper. IMHO, if you aren't damaged NOW you are OK.

I'm pretty sure this is true of fertilizer, but it is absolutely not true about many other chemicals. Some are absorbed through the skin and can cause serious consequences years later. Here's something to think about, for example, BPA in cash register tapes: http://www.pca.state.mn.us/index.php...r-project.html You can find many articles on this topic. I just picked this one because it's succinct. You can't wash it off, and for many years many of us have routinely carried the receipt home in our bags of food. While the exposure isn't as risky for most people as it is for the clerks who handle those tapes all day at work, it is good to know to avoid handling that stuff as much as possible.

if you are in a hurry to know, not in this instance, perhaps, i would think you could call poison control hotline. as long as you know what the poison is they can pretty much tell you how scared you need to be and whether you need to call 911 or you can just wash your hands. good luck.

Wash thoroughly with Dawn dishsoap, rinse well, then rinse again, then do a scrub with baking soada. Good luck, and don't worry too much about it. Just know that one of the chemicals in the pellets as a corosive in it and can cause problems with the driveway

As someone suggested I did contact my landscaper and he said soap and water would be fine. What I actually did was soap, water, and a quick soda scrub. Interesting fact was that the skin peeled slightly on my finger and thumb that I used. So even though the exposure was limited, it did cause a slight reaction. I was lucky and lesson learned WEAR GLOVES!!!! Thanks to all that replied!!!
