I have had one for 30 years or more and it made molasses cookies this morning. They are tough to beat.

I have a KitchenAid stand mixer, too. The directions say to press down on the back of the bowl and it locks right away. I used mine today and had a hard time getting it to lock. When I was finished using it, I noticed the little thing at the back of the bowl was loose. I asked my husband to screw the loose screw. He did, and it was easy then to get it to lock.

I'm so glad to read all these positive reviews. Target has the 600 for half price so I ordered one last night. Both my kids have one and I'm always jealous. I keep burning out small mixers so this should be awesome. Wish they had the blue one on sale but half price and no shipping is great!

I have a blue one and I swear you could mix cement in it.

I got my Kitchen Aid mixer over 40 years ago. It is not like yours but my daughter has one like yours and it is hard to push it down. I think it is suppose to be that way....

You can send an e-mail to Kitchen Aid and ask them. Or call QVC next time they have them on and ask the company rep there.
there are 2 styles of KitAid mixers- tilt-back and bowl-lift.

The top paragraph of this quote- quilting candy- is talking about a tilt back model. Try putting the bowl of a tilt-back in the bottom bowl plate with the handle at 4 o clock and twist clockwise to lock in place

For a bowl lift model like the one discussed here- try this- seat the bowl on the two metal pins first- align with one side and slightly shift bowl to fit over second pin. When the bowl is on the pins, run the heels of your hands along the rim to the back of the bowl and give a little push down. You are trying to clip/snap the metal button on the bowl into the metal hole on the neck of the mixer. Please know that it should take a firm push because you have a 6qt- they are built to handle heavy loads so the bowl needs to lock in tight so that you don't have the bowl torquing out of place when the mixer is going . If you have any more issues or questions note that the customer service number is written right on the side of the mixer head. They operate regular business hours M-F.

Hope this helps- Laura Weathers, On Air Expert KitchenAid QVC and Avid Quilter

The back slot is hard to get in. I think it is hard b/c once the batter gets thick and hard to stir, it causes extra pressure; the side ones slip out pretty easily. I like mine just fine, it's just hard getting the bowl in. I also bought the plastic lid that fits the top of the bowl and that makes it a storage bowl so if you don't cook all the muffins, etc, you can just keep it in the same bowl and put a lid on it. :0)
