We had a groundhog living under our deck and that wasn't too bad. After it moved out though - a skunk family moved in. Had to have a trapper come and get them out. But that took days and the smell!!!! As soon as he caught them we filled the hole with concrete so no other animal moved in.

When you release in the country, please try not to do so near farms where they can cause a LOT of crop damage, etc. Try to release them where there are no crops or homes! You wouldn't believe what country dwellers have dumped on them!

Around here we have lots of lively critters, possum, raccoons, bear, cougar, deer, elk, squirrels, many many varieties of birds, nutria, beaver, otters, rodents of every description and size. As long as they don't try to actually come in the house we live in harmony....well the bear did try to come through a window once but I banged him on the nose and he took off. I was surprised I could still move that fast. Also there was the wood-rat who actually made a nest behind the sofa until I caught him in trap and released him. Last I saw he was running as hard as he could from Killer the Blue-tick hound . I dislike the raccoons the most, well next to the abandoned feral cats. Stray dogs and goats, wandering horses, escaped calves, you name it at one time or other have shown up in the yard. I would not be surprised to see a flame belching dragon one day....It is amazing how many critters we live with and never notice until they encroach on our homes...I think it keeps it interesting.

This is a groundhog that my dog chased up an old silo on the property!I still can see the fat jiggling as he moved that fat butt up the silo! LOL

The farmers around here shoot them because they dig HUGE holes in the ground, then they come along with tractors and fall in...I thought he was kind of cute..reminded me of a cartoon animal!

Commented to a farming cousin about all the guns in the pick up trucks and was told that if & when a critter was seen, they pulled over and shot them. Was also told that one animal would destroy the corn plants in several rows. Can't remember which animal he was cussing at.
