I bought a Brother on Amazon, great price, incredibly lightweight, I had it for about 5 years now and nary a problem, it is my traveling machine

In my opinion, for what its worth you can't beat a Brother from Wal-Mart. I especially enjoy the auto thread, needle up/down and push button start/stop (so you don't have to use foot pedal).

I have a Brother, cheapo about $129, it's my machine I keep at my friends house for bee day.
Walmart has some good cheap o ones too.
