I like to use MO to pay for a fabric order,,,,,rather than putting my credit card on line.

Lots of shops only accept CC or Pay Pal.I'd buy more if they took MO.

Wouldn't you have to mail a Money Order? Most shops accept CC or PayPal because they're all done electronically. Maybe you could call one and see if you could mail an order in. However, there's no guarantee that your order could be fulfilled, which means that the money order amount may be wrong.

if you call in an order you can usually use a check- because they can take a check over the phone- the problem with money orders is there is no way to do that- the shop has to wait for the payment to arrive from you before they can cut your order (there have been plenty of issues- people order- don't pay- the shop cuts the order- no payment comes- they are *stuck* with cut up fabric---they want to know they will be paid before they cut anything- with mo's and the mail system---just makes everything difficult-
you would be better off calling in your order and using a check over the phone if you do not want to give out a cc #...personally i would rather give a cc # instead of my checking account information---that's just me.
but i did work in a lqs for a time- and on occassion had people call in wanting to use a mo- we had to write down the order- look everything up- figure it all- figure shipping/taxes ect- set the fabrics aside (which meant they were no longer on the shelves for other customers) then wait---sometimes 2 & 3 weeks for promised mo to arrive- then and only then could we actually cut any fabric- package the order and ship it out- so the person using the mo sometimes waited 4-6 weeks for an order---didn't work well for them- didn't work well for us-
she had to finally say mo's were too much trouble.
at least with a check over the phone- funds are varified immediately (just like using a check at walmart)the order could be put together and go out the door.

oh give up and give them your Social security number.
sorry. but that is personal info that everyone seems to want these days and i'm not giving it.
pay pal isn't safe totally. nothing is.
call the store you want to deal with and talk to them. they may take money orders if they take checks. good luck.

My DH didn`t want me using my credit card, so I asked our banker if there was another way, and SHE said open an account just for on line buying. Put in a smaller amount, about what you think you will use up in a month or so. Mark the card for on line only, and keep it at home so you don`t get them mixed up. When I order on line I write it in my checkbook in red ink. Then I know when the card is getting low. This card will appear in your monthly statement.

I very much prefer to use MOs because of identity theft some years ago after buying from ONE site, first time I'd bought anything for a couple of months before. So now I use MOs.

One site I asked about it refused, credit cards or Pay Pal ONLY.
Bought it from another site that did except MOs, and was very surprised to find that it was the first company that was selling it on this site!!! I'm not going to worry about it, there are way too many sites on the Internet that sell stuff almost identical or better!!
