this is true.

when my daughter graduated high school, i began making a trousseau.
i sewed lingerie, i embroidered bed linen and table linen. i went the whole nine yards. openwork, hardinger, crewel, etc. because i didn't know when it would be needed. and i wanted her to have the best i could give her whenever it was needed.
i had forgotten who she was. she is smart, funny, good-looking and fussy. she passed up one after another nice men waiting for the right one. she got a good job, made good money, bought her own house and had a good time. and waited.
when she was thirty, she told me she wanted everything i made. she didn't know how long it would take, or if she would ever find him. but she wanted her pretty sheet sets now. why shouldn't she enjoy those things now? i couldn't say she was wrong.
she fixed up her house, hung hand-made curtains, slept like a queen on hand embellished sheets and cases, wore hand made lingerie and enjoyed every minute of it.
when she got married two years later, nothing was new anymore. did she care? hah! she was happy then and she was happy now! i still make her beautiful things. and she enjoys them now. and so does her husband.
she knew then that you don't wait for tomorrow. you do it today.

Now that's a great story, BW. I don't save anything.I try to use things now and let tomorrow take care of it's self.

When My dear grandmother died, we found drawers full of un used sheets and robes and towels and gifts we had given her over the years. I wish she had enjoyed everyone of them, and left nothing behind, she deserved to.

I always tell anyone who receives one of my quilts, please don't put it away, use it. I think that is the greatest compliment, when someone uses what you have given.

Glad your daughter didn't wait to use and enjoy your precious gifts!
