Default Long List of Senior Citizen Discounts

Don't be afraid to ask. My sister sent me this list of Senior Citizen Discounts. Every little savings can help us in this economy.

Subject: DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK
This came from a senior friend of mine who says "Dont be too proud or afraid to ask everyplace even if not on the list. We have for a long time.
Each place may have additional ones, like some Wendy's also have free coffee."
Senior Discounts
Keep this list. Send a copy to your Senior friends.

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.

Being that age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too. As I waited for my turn, I thought about the consequences of doing so. If the employee asked me for I.D., it could be embarrassing having to show my license. But if she didn't ask for proof, I would get depressed that I really did look "old" and that I didn't need to prove it. Since I always like to save money, I boldly asked for the discount, and sadly she just rang up the discount (even though I am convinced I don't look a day over 54).

Anyway, this incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.

This list may not only be useful for you, your friends and family.

Hmmmm, Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55. If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for free.

I knew about some of the fast food places, but I didn't know the list was that extensive. Thanks for sharing. I have copied, and it's in my purse.

Recently, on a very hectic weekday when I had a number of activities going on, I drove through a local place for a box of chicken for supper. When the young lady told me the total, I double checked the price list and then told her she hadn't charged me enough. Smiling quite cutely, she proudly said "Oh, that's the price with your senior discount." Though I tried not to show it, inside I was shocked! Do I look that old?! I'm only 57, and all my life people have told me that I look so much younger than my real age. Have they been lying to me?

But........once the initial shock was over, I thought this isn't such a bad deal after all, so why not take advantage of it. As Caroline S. has told us, there are lots of discounts out there, and it only takes a minute to find out if they apply to you. So I say take those discounts where you can. It saves you money so you can buy more fabric!!!

That is cute Barb. Already thinking making one with a more feminine touch. I bet there is a Maxine cartoon that would be appropriate. Well maybe not, Maxine can often be inappropriate. LOL

Great list...I always ask...my son used to laugh at me but he saw the savings and backed off! I ask everyone...the roofer, the garage door repairman, the landscaper, etc. Most of them really do reduce their costs.
