I have been seeing lots of sprouting items in garden catalogs. I would love to grow my own, but I dont want to buy special equipment, as I dont know if I will like them or not. Does anyone do it with a jar?
Thanks! I am on dial up....I will search, but it could take DDDDAAAYYYSSSS, plus its nice to talk to someone who really does it, lol!

A large jar will work fine. Just make sure it is not too heavy to shake. I use to do it this way long ago. I found that the hardest thing to so is to separate the seed coat from the sprout.

Yes, I grow my own sprouts. Very easy to do with just a jar and a piece of cheesecloth to cover the top and a rubber band to hold the cheesecloth on.
Soak the seeds overnight, then drain the water through the cheesecloth. Rinse a couple times a day and when the seeds start to sprout, place the jar in a window for some sunlight.
Make sure you get seeds that are not treated in any way!
Super vitamin source! Very healthy!

Heres a link to growing your own. The lid that they have seems to be really neat. I wonder how well it works. I've never grown sprouts before.
