We've had one for over 2 years now and are happy with it. Every once in a while if the call quality seems not as good as usual, I just run the upgrade from the website and it's back to normal. We've put our regular house line down to just 911 and receiving calls. Can't beat the price...$19.95/yr for renewals. As long as you've got stable internet it's works great.

Our son used it while in Afghanistan and it worked very well for us. Sounded like he was right next door.

ditto re Vonage, ditto re AT&T!

We had one but we live in an area where the DSL is so slow that it didn't work right a lot of the times (we would get really bad echos). If you live anywhere else but here it seems to work fine.

We have used MagicJack for 2 years now and found that some of the problems were OUR fault. You must have very high speed internet (and a newer computer helps) and it works best if plugged directly into your computer - not through a router. (Not doing it this way will give you static and not as good service.) It works just like a regular phone. If you don't use just your computer (sit there and talk) you can buy a set of "base" phones with extensions to put around the house. The base phone (#1) has to be plugged into the computer and then the extensions are just plugged into an electrical outlet and ring also - we have 2 extensions in our house. We found $20 a year plus the cost of the "base" phone set was well worth it. We save $400 a year by NOT using AT&T.

I ordered it, they said High speed internet- when I got it, it did not work- I have satellite connection. Why didnt they tell me that when I ordered it????? Took forever to get the charges off my credit card!!
My sister has it and whenever I call her, I get a recording from them that she is unavailable. I will not make that mistake again!!

My husband hooked it up and didn't tell me and I knew immediately. Sound quality is bad, words were being cut off.
If you have a 2nd home that you don't use often it may work out to save money but for a regular residence where the phone gets a lot of use it's an aggravation.
