Default MaryJo's no longer for quilters

Today someone who spent Thanksgiving in North Carolina with family told me that MaryJo's no longer has quilting fabric! She said they are only going to have drapery fabric (and something else I forget). MaryJo passed away a few years ago and descendants are making changes. So if you are planning a trip there for quilting supplies, you need to make a new plan. So sad to see that one go. I was only there once.

I live fairly close to MaryJo's and shopped there often before they moved to that spiffy new place about 7-10 years ago. It was messy, crowded and wonderful there then. Before that, when it was in Denver, NC, they had bolts of fantastic fabric stacked everywhere. It was really a treasure!! The last time I went there (a couple of years ago), I was disappointed. What they gained in organization and upscale neatness, they lost in homeyness and sheer pleasure. What a shame!

It’s such a shame. I used to be able to count on Mary Jo’s to find just the right fabric when I could not find it at home. I was there about six months ago and was shocked at how little quilting fabric they had and how prices had gone up. It was no longer the place to go for good selection at a good price.

I know the last time I went to Mary Jo's it didn't seem like they had as much quilting fabric. I was really disappointed. It's too bad because you could find almost anything there. I can't imagine they would have that big a need for drapery fabric that they would do away with the quilting fabric.

Thanks for the update. I went a few years ago and was please with the selections in the 30's prints. It's always sad to see the quilting side of a store go away.

I use to live quite close to MJ's and went there a lot. You could always find what you wanted. I am so sad. Mary Jo would be very upset. She was quite a character. I had been hearing that the store was going "downhill" in the last few years. I can't believe it!
