o.k.'d by Patrice
Saw my Dr. yesterday. He told me that I should immediatly stop taking the Actos I had been on for several years to treat my Type II diabetes. Dr. said that the Actos mfg rep told him that the company wants everyone to know that the latest research shows that Actos can cause bladder cancer. If you take Actos, PLEASE discuss this with your Dr.,( sooner rather than later). Sara

Thanks for the heads up! I was on it until recently but since I have no insurance the monthly cost of Actos alone was crazy. Guess I won't be getting back on it. Again, thanks!

DH was on it; Dr. wants him to continue usage of it. But dh said "No way!"

He has been watching his diet closely, and blood sugar is staying in the normal range. If it continues for a month, he will not have to go back on a similar drug. He does check his blood sugar on a regular basis.

I haven't seen any commericals regarding this. I have seen where they are getting ready to become generic...

my husband took it years ago but no longer.

I stopped taking Celebrex due to the commercials saying it can cause heart attack, stroke or death. i don't want to be in the small percentage of population that is expendable as far as drug companies are concerned

I am a type 2 diabetic, but I am now considered insulin dependent for the last 2 years.

Thanks for the info though just in case anyone else in my
family becomes a diabetic.
