Default Laundry advice, Please!

So here's a good one for you. . .

I have a really cute 100% cotton white tank top with a button and mesh detail on the top. It looks great under summer shirts and short sweaters.

It had a food stain (I think mayo), so I pretreated it and washed it on the delicate cycle. The stain did not come out, so I thought hydrogen peroxide would help. I poured some on the stain, and some of the hydrogen peroxide splattered on the rest of the top. I did not rinse it out, but instead just hung it on the line to dry When I checked the clothes a couple hours later, it had yellow color splotches on it.

How do i get rid of the splotches?

I have great success with a Dollar store product called Awesome,(kinda looks like a spray bottle of apple juice. It has even taken out old ( 2 years old) set in grease stains. Just spray, let set for about 10 minutes or till washer fills up, then launder as usual. Not taking paint smears for me.

I consistently see hydrogen peroxide mentioned for removing stains. My experience with it on white items is as you described- yellow staining. I never got it out. I hope you are more successful than I was. I do not recommend hydrogen peroxide for fabric. There are plenty of good laundry pretreaters. I use the spray in the dark blue bottle spray n wash? And also Greased Lightening. Good luck!

The splotches are from the peroxide, it has bleached out your top, the splotches probably will not come out. Awesome is a great product but it does say to do a spot test first.

I use Oxy Clean on many stains. Also Grandma's Secret Spot remover. but it sounds like the HP did a job on your items and may not come out. Try Oxy Clean

might want to try baking soda, just make a past with water or white vinegar, spread it on then let it set for awhile then rinse with warm water.
