Do it rite the first time and you won't have to lick your calf twice.

Blessings,

Well.....I rarely do it right the first time, but I am pretty sure I never licked a calf twice. My visual is actually licking it with my tongue or are we talking about lickin it with a bit of fisticuffs.

Grandma used to say, "put on your big girl panties and go deal with it." In other words, toughen up.

The other one I liked is, "my dog's not in that fight."

Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.

When sewing, Mamma always said when something didn't come out just right on something for us kids "Well, you'll never see it on a gallopping horse." I always had the mental image of the 8 of us running around like wild horses. Years later I heard it as "you'll never see it from a gallopping horse" Completely different mental picture. Some of my quilts are like that-put it over the porch railing, ride by on a fast horse, if you don't notice the mismatched seam, it's close enough.

Mama (and Daddy) used to say "Measure twice, cut once."

My mother use to say "You learn from your mistakes and not to let them get you down, that practice makes perfect"

well Kaye Kaye, I had that visual, too. I dreaded doing chores she gave me, because I'd hear that saying, again.

Bizy Bess, it sure is good to have another view of that saying. After she combed and braided my hair she'd pat my tush and say that about the gallouping horse.
