Thanks for this, tesspug. I was only going to watch a minute or two as ballet isn't my "thing", but I was fascinated by their movements. Couldn't stop watching! I loved it!

I first saw this style of dancing when the Georgian State Dancers came to Sydney when I was about fourteen ( more than five decades ago). It was fascinating to watch the contrast between that and the cossack style that the men exhibited. The women actually hitched up their skirts and demonstrated the quick, tiny steps that they did to give the illusion of gliding.

That was totally fascinating......I think the floor length gowns and their precision movements give that weird feeling of floating. Not knowing Russian history that well, is this a traditional dance or something more modern developed by Russian dance troupe. Either way loved watching the fluid movements.........

Have seen this before and part of it this morning on FB. They look like ballerinas in music box motion.
