I play the piano and organ....also I'm the organist at our church. It seems like there's a shortage of piano/organ players in our area, or like miss_ticky2, I would be sitting in the audience or in the choir too. It's time to let some of the younger ones take over, although I really enjoy playing in the services.

Before my hands and wrists went to pot I played Classical guitar and picking, play mostly only strumming now and I play Mountain Dulcimer. Played my grandparent's bellows organ when I was a kid. My grandfather used to ask me if I could play "Under the Sea and Far Away." Anyone else know THAT one

I do play the piano only not well. I started lessons in my late 40's because our church needed a piano player. I am not great by any means and only know how to play reading the notes and using chords and octaves. I have learned over the yrs that I will use the talent I have. I struggle to learn while others just sit down and start playing. I had a lifelong desire to play and sing and the Lord has made that happen.

My DGD asked me that question last week! I told her when I was in jr. high I played the accordian. She immediately went into fits of hysterical laughter. What's funny about an accordian player?

I was started on piano lessons at the early age of three. My grandparents and mother were all accomplished pianists and my grandfather was church organist before I was born. Music has been my life. I taught for years, and later managed and became the CEO of a retail piano and organ company. I married my wholesale piano representative, who is a guitar player and vocalist. My son took lessons on both bagpipes and guitar and organ. My daughter plays piano. My grandaughter plays guitar, keyboard, and drums. We are retired now and my hubby is active in performance locally with a songwriters group and plays at "open mics". I now have taken up quilting and along with needlework, and paper crafts, I am keeping myself busy and happy in my "golden years". Martin Luther stated that the gift of language and the gift of music deserved the highest praise.

30 years ago I learned to play guitar just well enough to accompany myself in singing, which I do well!

I took piano for years but only "play at it." I play for my pleasure, not for others. I have been a singer for nearly 70 years, though, and enjoy that very much. I sing in church choir only now and sing around the house for my pleasure.
