My daughter got married in 2 months. Main thing is to pick a place for the reception since they book early. We didn't find an elegant place but had a great reception at a neighborhood place. They took care of everything- the band, flowers for the tables etc. The bridesmaids were able to order select gowns and get them in time. Luckily we went to a dept. store that was clearing out their bridal dept. They had a nice selection and my daughtr bought the first gown she tried on. It needed very little alterations. Looked like it was made for her. We had just moved into a different house 3 months earlier and I was painting stair rails while trying to plan the wedding. The church organ had been sent out for refurbishing so we had a piano and a violinist which was just beautiful. I was also working full time then. The wedding turned out beautifully. Don't worry it will all fall into place. Enjoy it. You'll smile when you look back on it.

Please, please, please include the groom's mother in some of your planning. It can take some of the stress off you. I have 3 boys. One got married a year ago, and while the bride was willing to include me, her mother was not. She did not call me once during 9 months of planning, and would not tell me anything when I called her. She would not let me know what to wear or how much I could do for the rehearsal without upstaging the reception. I got my dress 2 weeks before the wedding. THEN, she expected me to help out the day before with the panic running. It really hurt. They are happy and expecting our first grandchild in Feb. so that is what counts.

I don't have any suggestions that haven't alrady been mentioned - I just wanted to pop in and say that I got goose bumps as I read all the people offering to help. What a great group of ladies with big hearts!

Just breathe. Have a chat about the brides priorities and go from there. Have her understand that you will do your best but some things may not be available because of time frame. I had a friend who opted to JP before deployment and then have her church wedding/reception after he got back. No matter what is chosen the day will have special memories and they will still be married. Best wishes.

Good luck with everything. Will come together and be beautiful! My son is getting married June 16, 2012. They have plenty of time to make their plans. As said before, please include the grooms mother so she can feel involved. I am little concerned I will not have much to do with my son's wedding, but I plan to not let it show and just be happy for them.

Thanks y'all, I can't express how truly wonderful all you ladies are! As for the grooms mom...........I don't know. I would love to meet her before the wedding, but Dan has already told me that she may not even show up. (apparently they dont get along very well) Now he does have his aunt and grandmother that I believe would be a great help, IF they were closer. As I said before, all his family is way up in Long Island, while we are down here in Oklahoma. My family has always gotten along for the most part, and it just breaks my heart for the families that don't.

Anyway........DD is still trying to make up her mind what she wants. She is even considering a small scale wedding until Dan gets back from wherever he will get deployed to. I guess the army can't decide where to send his unit. Looks like either afganastan or Korea........ Looks like this is becoming a "hurry up..........wait" moment..............*head spining........lol

we were invited to a wedding that was across the country which had been planned for a year. The bride & mother of the bride were making all the dresses. The night before the wedding, all the close relatives (Women) were given a needle and thread and a brides maid dress to hem. It was fun and we took part in the wedding!

Congratulations to your daughter. Perhaps talk to your daughter about her expectations and how much to budget... online "wedding preparations" may help... my son and and now DIL kept it simple and it was very beautiful... a sunset beach wedding (in the Keys, Florida) and a dinner on the beach after with just family and a few close friends... we had so much fun ... keeping it simple kept the nervousness away... Have a good time making memories!
