I finally decided to buy the Viking Sapphire 855....we have a local dealer and that means a lot to me when the machine will need to be serviced. Otherwise, the nearest place for most other brands is a 2 hour drive each way for me. I am really enjoying this new machine.

I recently got a new Janome and love it! I decided on what I wanted and I'm very happy with MY decision because one of the things important to me was the accufeed. I also have a Singer 301 I got from Craigslist and it'll be serviced free when I take it in (for the first service).

It's like asking about a vehicle; you get ideas but you'll need to check them out and decide what you like best.

Oh, we pass other dealers to get to ours but I'd read here that the dealer was so important and the one we bought from was so totally customer oriented even my DH was impressed.

Janome (used to be the White brand of machines, which is what I started on) is a great machine, but I am partial to my Brother Machines. I have never sent a Janome or a Brother to the shop, as long as I clean them, at least once a week, and oil periodically as needed. Worth every dime.

Good luck finding the right sewing machine for you. Your husband sounds like a sweety.

Your husband is truly a keeper. I have two Bernina machines and they are both great to sew and quilt with. Kelela
