Thank you all for your kind replies. My eldest DD is so pleased it all went so well( and of course so is my younger DD ) They took their DD - she is 5 - to the Pantomime yesterday, and she 'phoned me last night to say she had booked two tickets for Swan Lake ballet towards the end of the month for her and I. I am so thrilled !!

That is so good. The same thing with me and my brother 22 years ago. We do finally talk (mainly by phone), but it will never be the same. I watched my parents suffer through this and was always willing to reconcile, but I guess it happened too late. After so much time, it just can't go back to the same.
