Default My next nature quilt

This morning I was out picking berries in the yard and came across this little fellow. Light bulb moment!! This will be my next nature quilt. I have never seen a dragon fly that was so beautiful just sitting there in stasis, still to cool in the morning to be flying around. So I was able to take this beautiful picture I will definitely make a wonderful quilt.

Inspiration all around us if we only take the moment to see it. That dragonfly is beautiful. I love the layers of green and all the shapes. Every morning I grab my coffee and walk my yard to see what I can see.

Beautiful picture and what creative inspiration you got from just a simple act of nature of a dragon fly resting in some beautiful green plants.

Please do not kill the dragon flies. Lots of kids are afraid of them thinking they are flying darner needles. They are not.

But they are using you as bait. Dragonflies eat mosquitoes, gnats and such. The skeeters are attracted to us with carbon dioxide, which we exhale, warmth, and usually light. Artificial skeeter traps have the CO2 emitter, warmth and light. So the dragonfly won't have to hunt for the skeeters, they will be attracted to the human and are easy pickings. They can eat their weight in skeeters.

I'll answer any bug questions....except the classic: what bug is small black and shiny. Lots of them. Gotta see it.

Juliasb: That is a beautiful picture. You have so many greens and shapes behind the dragonfly.
Battle Axe: Thanks for the info. I know a bit about bugs but didn't know that. We seem to have more dragonflies here than before. We never saw them when I was young. Wish I had you beside me an hour ago to identify the grub I found in the soil. I have found a few of them now and don't know if they are good or bad.

That picture is amazing. The dragonfly had really cool shape and you have captured some exquisite detail and texture . I’m admittedly afraid of them even though they’re good. But I do admire their beautiful iridescent colors. Marcia, thanks for the factoid on their being skeeter killers.

This one’s black shaped area looks like sunglasses.
