Count me amongst the arachnaphobes. Spiders just freak me out to no end if they are in the house. Outside is fine as long as I can keep what I consider a safe distance. I am fascinated by spider webs and will watch them outside but inside forget it. Sometimes I can't even look at pictures of them in magazines or the internet without getting the heeby jeebies and having goose bumps and shivers. Lord have mercy on me if one ever gets on me! I will do what I call the "there is a bug on me dance" which looks like a cross between break dancing and an epileptic seizure. I have the shivers for hours after, even when I know it has been killed and disposed of. I don't know how our Aussie friends deal with the monsters they have! While the huntsman is not lethal they are one big nasty looking spider and my one friend in Sydney says spider killer won't phase them, she has to suck it up with her Dyson and they are so big she can hear them thunking around in the canister! Then they have the two of the most venomous spiders around, the red back (similar to our black widow) and the funnel web. Yeegads.

heights for me too. As time passes, it seems to become worse. I don't know what to do for it. Went to a hypnotist a few times, but it didn't work for me. It's become life limiting... as though I'm not free to be me. I have a limited comfort zone where I am comfortable driving. I take the long way around to avoid bridges and overpasses. I cannot imagine how it would be to hop in my car and drive to my daughter's; or to paducah; or to just about anywhere, like my favorite lqs. Ironically, I am able to fly - I do not let my mind Picture the insanity of what I am doing - lol... - I envision that I am on a bus. I wish there were a magic pill... :-(

Falling, used to think it was a fear of heights, but as long as I have something to protect me that is above my knees, I'm fine with even a sharp drop off. And put a camera in my hand and I'll go anywhere!

And roaches ! HATE them. Spiders are next.

Arachnophobia! Just doesn't begin to describe the panice I go through. They are evil!!!! I keep cans of spider killer in every room. My family thinks it is funny but they don't know the unreasoning terror and absolute blind panic I feel when I see one - no matter the size. I have tried to make them understand by comparing it with something that they fear but they just don't get it! Did you know Antartica is the only continent with no native spider species? If I could afford it, I would be there!

There IS a magic pill... :-D Talk to your doctor. Mine is Lorazepam. I only need it when I travel. I'm fine once I get to where I'm going, but for that day before I leave and the day of travel, I'm a mess! I would get knots in my stomach and half to add, oh about a half hour or so to my plans for all the trips to the ladies' room. But then... the magic pill... and I feel normal again. I'm not a pill popper, nor am I a pill pusher!! I actually, don't even like taking vitamins, but this is the only thing that worked for me. Never used to be this way for me, but 9/11 and menopause hit at the same time and really screwed up my system!
Other than that... fear of heights and dogs I don't know... and oh yeah, earthquakes... I have had nightmares about those...been there... DON'T want to be there again! And fear of losing my loved ones. My Mother passed on her worry genes to me... thanks, Mom
Gee, reading this over, I sound all messed up! But I'm happy!! LOL

For me it's heights, bridges, and driving on the freeway. I live in California, and the freeways are crazy here. I am so glad to know I am not alone in finding the backroads everywhere, and in regretting the limitations!

Poisonous snakes. I live on a farm that backs up to a forest that has rattlesnakes. That is why we have big dogs.

Red wasps. When I was about 7 I had long hair and there was a nest on our front porch. I was playing and they got to fighting and fell on top of my head and got tangled up. I ended up stung about 10 times. My sister beat them to death in my hair with her Keds tennis shoe.

Heights. I have inner ear problems and I never know when just looking down can send me into a tailspin.

Water. My Mother made me paranoid. I made myself learn to swim just because I would not let her defeat me.
