I had GB surgery in 1990. Got out of recovery about 9 that night and was out of the bed at 4am going to the bathroom. The nurses told me I couldn't get up and that I had to use a bed pan. I said no I ain't! (it was that pride thing) Help me up or get out of my way....so they helped me up and I went to the bathroom. I think it pissed them off! When the doctor came in about 9 am he told me that he heard I've been out of the bed and he was amazed but that was good. He asked me how I was feeling and I told him fine except I had quiet a bit of gas on my stomach....he winked and said we'll take care of that. I didn't know what he meant at the time. About 20 minutes later they came in with an enema. From then on anytime I had gas in a hospital I kept my mouth shut!!!!! I feel like the nurses got even with me for giving them a hard time.

He, he. yep, be quiet about gas. my poor hubby was in for knee surgery twice and he called them to take him to the bathroom and they took forever. he messed himself by the time they arrived. they told him to go ahead and finish and then they would clean him up.talking about being embarassed.
My DIL just called me back and they took my son into surgery tonight. his fever keeps going up and he has very large gall stones blocking the bile duct. keep your fingers crossed that this will make his fever go away.
thanks all,Carolyn

They ended up operating on him last night, even with a fever. All went well. The Doctor told my DIL that his gall bladder was the worst he'd ever seen. almost totally black/dead. My sister had hers out in the 70's and they told her it had stopped functioning.
i wish he'd have let me know he was having pain, i probably could have told him what it was from. At least he sounds much better this morning. he was having trouble breathing last night too.
I'm just glad it's over. Now to get him home!
thanks all, Carolyn

I have 4 bulging discs in my lower back along with arthritis in my neck, but can't see a specialist for it now because I have lung cancer and they want to look after that first. Pain I know about, have had a bad back for years and years, have stenosis also all over my back.

God bless you dear. You are dealing with a lot. You will have prayers from many of us for the strength to go on and that you are comforted with the knowledge that you will receive the endurance to recover from these things. You have a lot of worldwide friends now in the Board. Quilting By The Piece
