Default What the Heck it that thing?

We went to the cabin and two of these were running down the dirt road. I have never seen them before. I thought it was a small deer when I first saw them. They are HUGE!!! And they fly!!! What the heck is it?

They winter here in Arizona, near Willcox. We've gone over a couple of times to see them. Beautiful birds.

I agree. It is a sandhill crane. I have seen them in Florida but also in Montana. I believe there are some in northern NY state at times as well.
