Something I'd try is Thieves Oil. It's naturally a disinfectant and sanitizer, yet smells so lovely of cloves and cinnamon. Highly recommend giving it a try.

I have an extremely old dresser(early 1900's) where the inside of the drawers all have been finished with varnish, I think. Maybe doing this to your dresser drawers would solve the problem. You could use polyerathane.

Activated charcoal. They use it for water filters. And fish tanks I think.

put a dish of vinegar in it. Maybe heat it and then the steam will spread around the whole inside and work faster.

Buy some inexpensive strong coffee not instant in big cans maybe 2 or 3 spread it in the trunk. Keep it shut for a couple of days you might have to change it or add more and mix it around. Leave it in there longer.
I use to drive truck and that's what we used if we hauled meat like chicken, pork, that was in bins. So after we washed and the trailer dried if it had still smelled we put coffee all over the floor. It really works
