Thanks for posting this. My son, 13, has spent the last 2 months in and out of the hospital. They think he has ulsurative colitus. They removed beef and pork from his diet. I'm not sure if it is beef or pork that is getting to him, he still is sick.
Sounds like It would be a great idea to raise our own meat. I had not thought of the hormomes, and pestasides, and animals eating things that are not on their diets.
I would be greatful if you would lift him up in prayer. Giving wisdom to the doctors, healing and that his faith not be shaken. God's mercy is new everyday.

Fortunately I will be raising my own. I have a friend who raises grass-fed cattle, so I will have a clean souce of beef. Sorry, I love beef, pork, lamb, goat, and chicken. Okay, I love meat, but I do not eat it every meal because I love vegetables even more.

I wonder if it is all the antibotics, ect in the food. Mom and I were talking about this too the other day. SO many hormones and antibotics the cows are fed.
Luckily we get venison every year, no chemicals there, but I know some people hate the flavor.

we do a LOT of venison around here. I buy sausage from a local guy who butchers his own hogs. I raise a few chickens for the table but not nearly enough. Everyone in my family is a BIG meat eater. I was going to do a veggie only meal the other night and they all had fits. I'm the only one overweight too. They're all skinny! So far I haven't noticed any problems but maybe its because we don't do as much store bought meat.

I would suggest that you find a local cattle farmer who raises his cows solely on grass and hay and who does only the minimal shots and vaccinations. Be careful of farmers advertising "organic" to see which vaccinations they are using and if and what kind of grain they are feeding their animals.

I love beef and eat is often also chicken and pork steaks. I also like peanut butter and jelly sandwitches. I guess you would say I like all food. ha ha And yes I do need to go on a diet.

After reading everything on this. I'm wondering if this isn't my problem also. I always feel ugh after eating and get some strange pains. Think I will write down everything I eat and what happens afterwards.

I suffered for years (started at about 33 years old) with Crohn's Disease, even had 2 surgeries from it- in 2004 I was on the verge of getting a colonostomy and then God sent me my gastro dr. I was his first patient in out town, the crohns has been in recession since then, all he did was change my diet! No red meat- eat broccoli to get my iron, whole grains, he said also"if its white ,don't eat it! It feels good not to suffer in pain all the time. weighted 103 at the time- with age,I have gained way too much weight, but def in better health.I'm 66 years old now and lovin life again!

Wow, Betty....you sound like my gf. She also suffered for years with Crohns...until she found her current dr. She is loving life again also. What a difference it makes to find the right dr for whatever ones' condition may be. I hope you continue to have have good health for may years.
