My grandson is 10. He is a high functioning autistic. This means his way of thinking is differant from ours. So he finds it frustrating sometimes to do things. One thing he is really good at is working on the computer.

Just a minute ago he asked me to help him write a letter to his mom(on the computer). He is just here for the weekend and will go home to mom and dad tomarrow. My mom has a mailbox outside my front door just for looks. Well my mom ( Grandma Dot) encouraged Zach a few weeks ago to write a letter and put it in the mail box to her So he wanted to put his letter in the mailbox for his mom to get tomarrow.

I looked at his letter and my heart melted.

It said: Dear Mom p.s. you are my best mom ever! love Zach

This is a kid who is all wrapped up in videos and drawing and doesn't look out very often. He is usually in his own imaginary world most of the time. So this is special that he has been reaching out more and more as he gets older.

Thanks Airwick and Jim's Gem. I know she will love it. She has 3 kids with all differant health issues. She spends a great deal of time as an advocate for her kids and their needs. Zach is of course her achille's heel. He is so sweet and loving.

That letter should be framed and put on a special wall...

That brought tears to my eyes.

I have a cousin that has autism. He is classified as moderate/severe. He often does not interact with others.

I have a picture that is my all time favorite of him... he is playing... LITERALLY playing with my husband and my sons upon their first meeting.

    It melts my heart.

Way to go Zach! Hugs, for you and your family!
