I have a question for all of you not related to quilting. We were blessed last monday with a new little niece, after waiting for 14yrs my nephew and his wife have a new baby. She is very wanted and loved by mom and dad but with every passing day mom seems less confident that she can care for the little one. NOw I've been over evere morning for coffee and MOm does just fine. but she call for help more and more often. In my day (I'am 60+ ) there was a thing called baby blues, now they call it some kind of depression. Anyone out there know anything about this does it reslove itself of should we be really concerned .
thanks in advance

I would keep an eye on her, but expect it may pass in a few days. If it has only been a week, it probably is just baby blues that will soon pass. Nice that you are concerned just in case it's more.

I was going to say she is tired and maybe needs a doctor visit. Could be as simple as low iron or something like this.

I think what you are refering to is Postpardom Depresion, and it is something you should really watch. Some mothers have it for quite a while. I sure hope and pray that isn't what she has.Good thing she has you to help.

Maybe she is just nervous. I was always calling my Mom when I had my first kid, just nervous I would do something wrong!

I would certainly watch her just like you are doing. Like someone else mentioned, first make sure she is getting enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can be really bad. A visit to the Dr for hormone levels, etc might be good too. If she waiting so long, she may just be really nervous. If you notice her avoiding holding the baby or anything like that; I would seek help from DR right away. Congrats on the new baby!!
