By no means the only one. I belong to a book group and of the 40 or so members only 4 or 5 are interested in any sort of e-book. I actually have a Sony Reader which I use often and really like but I still love my books.

I too, use my Ipod more than my Ipad. But I love the Ipad for traveling with the 3G. I have the NOOK and love it for reading as I don't want any more books around, don't want to wait for a library copy that I need for my book club. I probably wouldn't have the NOOK but I got it before my Ipad. I love my electronics!

I have pre-ordered one after checking with my son who has computer experience. He said it appears to be just like the IPad but much less expensive. I plan to use it in my quilting room to watch video's on YouTube. They are shipping them out on November 15.

Then it will all be over the internet.

Yes, there are two libaries in our county that purchased Overdrive. I want to go get a card to download audio books. The library that I retired from does not have it.

I love Melcat http://elibrary.mel.org/ You can also search for any book in the state of Michigan and it will be delivered to your library (non digital copies of books) I have done this many times Its a great tool. Someday I hope to have a reader. How many of you with Ipad type readers use them as a reading device? Is it just as easy to download? I'm leaning towards those that have the keyboard docking stations.

I love books too but I enjoy my Kindle. I can carry it with me easily and the weight is wonderful. Love "big" books but they hurt my hands and wrists anymore, especially when reading in bed. I just bought my husband one because the book he's currently reading was hurting his hands too so we downloaded it to his kindle and he's enjoying it again. But I still read books too!

did you know you can download kindle for pc for free and read books on your computer? if you have a lap top you can take it with you, not quite as handy as taking a small kindle but you can save a few books. My BIL told us about it, and you can share books with other folks.

Here is the link to all the info about the Kindle Fire. Page down to see a chart comparing it to other Kindles feature by feature which is good for showing exactly what features it has. It looks to me like it does have a USB. I wish it had 3G. My daughter said her and my son are getting it for for Christmas.

I certainly wouldn't replace my current kindle with a Fire. I'd buy the Ipad first. The current kindle is way better for those with vision issues with its nonglare e-ink interface which the new Fire will not have.
