I purchased a new [to me] Jamone 11000 yesterday. Very excited about learning to use it. I have never had an embrodery machine before. Anyone own one that can give me pointers? Thanks

Go to the lessons at the shop where you purchased it ASAP!

I don't have the 11000, but the 6600. It's the 3rd Janome and I've attended the lessons for each machine. Just get in the driver's seat and use your machine as much as you can before you go to the lessons, and to get the most out of them. You'll find there's things that they'll teach you that are easier/simpler than you have been doing them ... and discover new tricks that you hadn't already. And with the experience you've had already, you'll have better questions and be more attentive to the lessons.

Hi Pat,
I have the 11000SE and I totally love it. I use it every day! You will be surprised at how easy it is to use and what a nice job it does, both with sewing and embroidery. Take at least an introductory class on how to hoop and how to bring up your bobbin thread, etc. Then just have at it and play with your new machine. My best advice when you are embroidering is to stay near the machine and listen as it embroiders. If something goes wrong you will be able to hear it and can shut the machine off quickly and rethread or whatever. It is so tempting to go make a cup of tea or something while the machine is running by itself. Don't do it. That's always when something snags, breaks, or bunches up. Another suggestion is to find a group that sews/quilts/ embroiders together. You will learn a lot from other sewers and it's fun to have someone to kibbitz with too. Too bad you don't live in western MI. We could get together.

I have one - and it is easy to use. The one thing my dealer said was to keep the bobbin area clean and when winding the bobbin don't do it at the fastest speed. I clean my bobbin area out often and it really makes a difference.

The shop where you bought it should provide lessons. Or any shop that sells the Janome machines will
give lessons on the machine. Read the manual from front to back before starting, theres a lot of info.

I just bought the 11000SE, I cannot attend classes where I purchased it, so it is hit or miss. I read the instruction book several times.....Janome is not known for its great instruction books.....it gives you the generic, but not the detail that we need sometimes. For example on the memory card.....it doesn't tell you what it is, the number of pins, what you need to write or view with, what extras you may or maynot need....how to convert....just to check a camera shop of computer supply....so there is alot to be desired when it comes to the book. I have called their tech people a few times. I purchased the upgrade and followed the prompts for each step, then when it was suppose to ask for the key code to finalize everything, it skipped right over that section.....it seems to have "taken" the install....I guess I will find out as I go along.
I haved used it to straight sew numerous times....it is great at that. I will have to practice more with the embroidery....the very first one I did came out perfect.....hope that continues. There is a Yahoo group....Janome 11000.
They are not very active....I go for weeks without seeing a post. Perhaps we can stay in touch.

I purchased the Janome 11000SE about 1 month ago. Great dealer and unlimited free lessons. I had a Janome 6600 and traded up. Glad I did. Does piecing beautifully and also embroidery.
I very strongly suggest the lessons- very helpful.. You'll love the machine. Best of luck with it.

Great machine! You will love it. Take the "getting to know your new machine" classes at your dealer. The only way to learn your machine and all the wonderful things you can do with it is hands-on. Have fun!
