New Thought for Assistance to Oklahoma Tornado Victims
Think about this ladies and gents; there will quite possibly be women and men who are quilters, etc. who have lost everything and a sewing machine and fabric is the last thing they will think about replacing. However, down the road, we may all be able to help in a big way by donating a part of our fabric stash, thread, extra notions that we all have and don't use, and if you are in the vicinity, possibly a rehabbed sewing machine that you have.
Please think about this as we might be able to help our fellow quilters in a big way!

I was thinking about this, too. I would prefer donating fabric to rebuild a stash than sending a quilt to someone who may or may not need it.
Hope someone comes up with a way we can help!

One of members who lives near Moore has a Yahoo group for quilts, I am sure she would be able to facillitate other supplies down the road. Her board name is sikesjj and here is a link to a post on the FQ swap thread. http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...220247-25.html

Please remember that storage space will be at a premium in the immedate area right now - so be sure you connect with someone who has space and is willing to protect anything sent until it can be distributed.
The thoughts & prayers of fellow quilters are definately appreciated. Don't know who is collecting supplies in the area & can't help as I am out of state now.

My guild has been in contact with the folks in Moore, here is their response:
"Thank you for your offer of support. Many folks are hurting here. We even have a couple of our guild members houses are gone. We are blessed to have a Salvation army Major as a member. She says that, at least at first giving folks who have no home things that should go into a home usually is a problem because they have no place to store stuff. That made sense.
However in the coming weeks as people get their houses fixed or move into another situation then the need for things will be more evident. So. At this point I would advise hanging on to the cuddle quilts for our area. Our guild has had several similar offers. The new president BJ Davis who is just starting her time in office will contact you with instructions. She is currently trying to set up a distribution point for such items as a cooperative effort with a local sewing machine shop that is working to the same end."
I have Cc ed her on this note so you can keep in the loop
Your heart is kind as is your offer of assistance to those who have lost so much.
