Love the pic of the little tykes walking back. It will be priceless to you when they are teenagers!

I've never let my daughter get gifts for her parties the kids have to bring a bag of food that we drop off to the shelter. It is great for them to bring in the food themselves. Then we go and party.

That is such a great idea for a party. I love the doughnut cake...too cute!!! It really is just about getting together and having fun for birthdays. When my kids are invited to birthday parties, we always make the gift. I get to spend time with my child making purses, necklaces, one time a quilt(she was a special friend of my daughters).

I do like the idea of no gift parties. I know my kids have too much stuff and alot of the family is out of town and just send money and I usually have them put it in savings unless they have something they really want.

My grandchildren and all their friends have their parties, but the invitations say that all gifts will go to an area hospital for the childrensward or to a Ronald McDonald center for children recuperating from surgery etc. It works well and the children go to the hospital and hand out the gifts to the children recuperating there. They really enjoy it and love how the sick children cherish what is donated to them.
