I am using a cone of thread on a thread stand behind my machine. I have even changed threads, didn't help. I have noticed my thread (at end of my sewing) is really really twisted. I use leaders & enders. Tried top stitch needles & microtex, no difference.

I don't have any problems with regular round threads. Sometimes a flat glitter thread will twist and I make sure it is on my machine so it feeds without twisting. Which way is the thread on your spool/cone? Cross wound or stacked makes a difference in how you position it.

Are you using a thread net on the cone? If not, I would recommend trying a good quality thread net.

Also, what is the brand of thread and type? I know that with spools, different manufacturers use different ways of winding the thread on the spool. This is why some spool brands should be mounted horizontally rather than vertically before the thread is fed into the machine. I wouldn't have thought this applies to cone thread, though. That is why my first thought is the thread net.

If you are using the cone thread used for serger, I would buy a better thread quality.

Most quality threads come on a cone now. Aurifil and Superior has large cones. Not all cone threads are for sergers.

The company I buy thread from winds their thread in such a way that it won't feed nicely from the spool so I just throw in a cup behind the machine (off to the right). Problem solved.
