OMG I think I will go blind. I am hand sewing a black quilt label on a black quilt back with black thread. Every light on in the room and still having trouble seeing it.

Hi all... Been absent for much to long. Congrats on the job Cindy. Irish there is nothing like a new born, so glad you got to hold him.
I had so much reading to do because I have been off this site for so long. I still have to get my FQ in the mail, sorry, I will try to correct that in the next day or two.
I have been yo yoing for most of the month. Really makes me mad at myself. Just saw the doc and he was not happy with the few # lost since I saw him last. I have the Sugar Bustrs book, really eye opening.
I will sure try to keep away from sugar and sugar converting foods , a challenge but just what I need.
Our friends took DH and I out for dinner tonite ,had a tri tip sandwich with salad and iced tea. I did leave half the bread and sooo enjoyed it.
I have to tell a cute story about our Jasper. We took him to Home Depot today. We were walking through the Christmas dec area when Jasper saw a little rocking horse that was his size and color. He kept turning and looking at it as we passed so we took him back to get a close look and he got down like a puppy when he wants to play and softly woofed . I wish I had a video on my phone to watch over and over. He is such a ham. Sorry to ramble but had to share.
Hugs to all and keep on keeping on.
Gail

Everyone is quiet today.
Gail, that must have been adorable. My little one stops cold at every new Halloween decoration - like, hey, that wasn't there yesterday. She'll do the same thing at Christmas if she's still with me. It's so hard to rehome a good dog - and I wouldn't rehome a 'bad' one. I should take the furgirls to Tractor Supply and Home Depot occasionally, but I think I'll do it one at a time. I'll take them both to Tractor Supply Saturday if I have time. There's a dog event and the people from Lily's first shelter will be there. They enjoy seeing her so tall and strong - not cowering.

I am sewing batting together by hand. It gives new meaning to the word boring. Just one seam so it's not too bad. Because I buy queen size packaged batting and make very large lap quilts, I have some large scraps. I also need to stop buying buying batting when I have a coupon I can't use on anything else. No wonder I can't get in the playroom. That and sewing machines - I am planning selling at least two.

I don't think I have SugarBusters. I'll check at the library - there are too many books here, too.

I'm going to try to call my doctor's office again. As my PCP, he needs to know about my fun and games. It's all but impossible to get past his office staff. I wonder when they received their medical degrees and how they manage to know more than the Nat'l Center for Disease Control.

Gail, it's a nice feeling to mail more than one month's FQ at once, then I don't have to obsess over what to send as often.

I want to start eating more regular meals. I feel that would be helpful with controlling my weight. Then I will work on portion control. I went to breakfast with a group this morning. I think I was the only one of twelve who cleaned her plate. I know I have no idea what 'full' means.

Okay, back to the hand sewing - something I avoid at all costs. The only hand sewing on my quilts is the label.

Good night, y'all. Have a clean eating day.

Good Morning! had been out of the dried beans, so went to the grocery store and bought a bag. Been eating them 2 - 3 times a day with other food. It has really helped my body. Don't feel as bloated as I did a week ago. I will have to remember to keep a couple bags on hand at all times.

Irish, a new baby. How wonderful. Miss that stage and won't have grandbabies for awhile, I'm sure.

Since DH is out of town this week, I was putting together left overs from the refrig, but no veggies to be seen. So went to the deep freeze and grabbed a bag of frozen. Had it in the pan to heat when I looked at it and it was carrots and peas. My mind when into freeze mode - then put them back in bag and got out a bag of green beans. So next week when DH is back in town I will make the carrots/peas and he will love them.

I'm not playing technically, but can I hang out with you guys? I can help be motivation and support and you guys can help me? So since i"m not technically playing I can tell I'm down 20lbs since end of August.. I know you all can do this!! I still have more to go. It's hard when living in a bad neighborhood, and being a jobless broke college student with lots of homework and an addiction to the computer and tv Excuses excuses.. I know.. I have Jvan from this board being my accountability partner but I think i need a horde of them.

I used to weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 255 many moons ago.. Back then I took up training to run a marathon and I dropped down to 189. Then I got divorced and a whole bunch of life things happened and I got back up to 230. Then I got down to 200.. then a sit down job of long hours and the only thing nearby was a candy vending machine.. so back up to 215, which is what I started at in August. Now i am back down to 193 since then. My goal is 140. I know HOW to do it, I've done it.. I just need the motivation, inspiration, and accountability that comes from doing it with other people.

I also need to stop giving my aunt recipes for sweet things I see online.. because then she makes a whole batch and sends them home to me. And I haven't figured out where/who to unload them onto. If i was working I would just bring them there but I'm not so they taunt me.

This time around, I'm using small plates. This is really helping because now I'm getting full a LOT quicker and trying to eat more protein and fiber so I stay full longer. it's doing well.

I am working on a million things of course as well. Quilts, swaps, crafts...I think my head has started spinning. If anyone sees it go flying off, please catch it and bring it back. Kthanx.

I visited my mom in Iowa this week. She is 84 and doing well. I took my little traveling machine and worked on my Irish swap blocks. They are done except for trimming them up. Forgot to take my big square ruler.
Anastasia, of course you can join in with our group. We are here to help and support each other.
Cindy, congrats on the new job. I hope you love it.
Irish, congrats on the new great grandson. Babies = fun!
The past couple of months have been so busy. Too much traveling. I still have 1 trip to take. I decided I am going to go to the Houston quilt show. This weekend I am going to Minneapolis with the gals I have been playing cards with for almost 30 years. There are 8 of us going and it should be a blast. What I really need to get busy on is unpacking all these boxes. Next week looks promising.

Oh Pam H, your trip sounds wonderful. Have a GREAT time with the ladies.

Anastasia, we can use all the support we can get. We have about the same goal - so GO GIRL GO.

Spartan Stores and Meijers both have their own brands, plus the National brands. I get them at the natural food store in bulk, too. Great Northerns are easy to find, it's Navy beans, the smaller ones, that I like best and have more trouble finding though lately I can find both.

Welcome, Anastasia, you can play all you want without being in the FQ challenge. That's optional. We welcome your input. Smaller plates - Cindy has us trying that for this month. High fiber - a good reminder. Thank you. High protein works for me for a short time, but not for everyone. It sounds like you are doing wonderful. 20 pounds in two months is as much as you'd want to lose.

My 10 year old GS is here sewing his Halloween costume. My Elna has made many over the years, but none of gray cheesecloth. I have to listen to the radio to know when the football game ends so I can pick up his brother. The bazaar quilt is strung out all over. I can't find a batting I like for it. The brother is dieting - nothing but meat. It is so hard to convince 13 year old with ADHD that he doesn't know best.

The kitchen needs me. I was just checking in.

I am losing weight and becoming healthier.

Thanks for the welcomes. It was an eye opener to see exactly how much more food you can get to eat with veggies and fruits. I know some people aren't real fond of them, but they help with the fiber and sweet desires.

Have any of you guys used the Hungry Girl cookbooks? Basically she tries to keep all meals close to 300 calories. One of the times before that i lost 20lbs I did kinda basically that.. keeping my meals around 3-400 calories, stacks at about 100.. and I went to the gym every night after work. i don't recommend working out that many nights in a row. You fatigue. Drastically. The working out part is the part i'm having problems with right now. I used to have a gym membership, I don't anymore, and my brother used to go with me every night but now he won't work out with me. Slacker. And I don't have anyone else to workout with.
