I like the sound of this word, too. Hard to drop it into ordinary conversation, though.
I had to laugh at this one....no problem working it in a conversation in our house!!!! LOL

Newfoundland has its own dictionary.... a huge tome called "Dictionary of Newfoundland English". There are SO many unique NEwfoundland words and expressions that when I first went to the "mainland" to meet my prospective in laws my husband to be had to translate for us!!

My favorite is mollycaudle. Loves it. It means to baby a person who is capable of doing things on their own. I am sure that there are lots of us who mollycaudle our grown children!!! I use it frequently when my husband is dealing with his 23 year old baby boy!!!

the USA version/spelling is

mollycoddle -

- to treat someone very indulgently or protectively (verb)
- an effeminate or ineffectual man or boy, a milksop (noun)

When I heard it used, it wasn't a compliment.

onomatopoeia - the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitationof the sound associated with it, (ie buzz, hiss)

No, I didn't learn it in English class - my mother taught it to me as part of a cheer they used at her high school in the thirties!

The only thing "bad" about the "B" word is that it's an insult to our canine friends when it's used to refer to a two-legged creature.
