My mother had some very old wool quilts with that heavy batting. They are not pieced, just put together and tied. Does anyone have any idea what I should do with these. They take up a lot of room. I don't know if there is any value in them or not. Any ideas.

You can donate them to a homeless shelter. They are always very appreciative when they get things like that.

Do you think so? They are so heavy and lumpy. Seemed like somebody might like to salvage the wool as it is still nice.

if you just want to get rid of them---some textile artist will want them...

i would love a find like that! i go to yard sales just to find wool!
if there is a (freecycle) program in your area you could offer them there-
if you want to make a bit $$ from them you could list them with fiber-art sites, quilting sites, and primative textile/wool groups. someone is bound to snatch them up!

I have 2 pure wool tied quilts in my cedar chest. My husbands grandmother made them back in the 1930's - 1940's.
I use to use them alot, but they are stowed away.
Since his mother made them I will hand them down to my kids.
