Unless you dig up the roots, your trumpet vines will come back. Here in the South of the USA, they are almost impossible to get rid of. The pictures of the vines are beautiful, by the way.

I think that first pic would make a beautiful quilt. And you can "see the flowers all year long". I am serious, why not try it. If I did not have 50 other quilts on my "to do" list, I would try the landscape one, especially from your pic. I just love it.
