Over the weekend my husband and I went up to Cushing, WI (about 5 hours from our house) to help his parents move up there from Milwaukee. On the ride back I mentioned with all the barns we have seen, I did not see even one quilt barn. He - of course - looked at me like I was a nut and asked what a quilt barn was :)

While I was looking at our local newspaper online today they had a story about a group of people taking photos of barns in a particular area. Wouldn't you know . . . one was a quilt barn!

I'm from Iowa and they are all over here. Especially Grundy county up in the NE part. I'm 20 miles from Fons and Porter country and they have started a wave of them down there in the Winterset area. We were recently in Indiana and Ill and I saw some there also! Very pretty!

I love Eleanor Burns's new Quilting Book. It has several Quilt Barns from different areas of the country. She also tells where they are located and the history behind the quilt barn and shows how to make the quilt that has been painted and mounted on the barn. I know a lot of you already know about this, but just thought I would mention it. I loved seeing her pictures and reading about that history. It sold me on the book.

I am originally from Iowa and grew up on a farm there and the barns and quilts and farming and country living and covered bridges are stillin my heart. Thank you for sharing this beautiful picture of this quilt barn. I also collect pictures of quilt barns and have a book I keep them in.

Do you know where this one is located?

Please check out Green County in Wisconsin. They have a big quilt barn project. Have fun!
