I have been hand-dyeing and selling at street fairs: bamboo socks and quilting fabric. Really enjoy doing it!

    excellent job.

i like the bottom purple fabric. it would be interesting to continue with the radiating design by laying on other colors as the design radiates out to the edges of the fabric.

how did you fold the fabric to achieve the concentration only in the center?

Excellent! I was at the shoe store last weekend and saw tie dyed socks and almost grabbed some, but the line was long and I didn't feel like waiting. I like yours better.

Oh cool socks. How did you do that? My grandkids would love them and me to. I love colorful socks. The pink and white ones would be perfect for the 3 day breast cancer 60 miles walk I will be doing in October.

Oh how fun! I did tye dying like that when I was in college....back in the 70s...ancient history. I think if you wash the socks with a "color catcher' each time there shouldn't be a problem. Those are adorable.

Oh, and the fabric that is about the purple in the middle is dyed using ice cubes. I scrunch up the fabric just a little after it has been folded in half. I completely cover the fabric with ice cubes, and then, pour some dyes onto the ice cubes. It takes the ice about 24 hours (I live in the NW!) to melt. Then, I pick the fabric up, rinse it really well and do my finishing washes and rinses.

This is a substitute for what other people do in snow dyeing.
But, hey, we don't get enough snow here, and I like doing it in the summer. This method creates some very nice crystal effects.

And, I found out that I love bamboo clothing. When you touch it, is sort of feels like a cross between angora and cashmere. Except for dog clothing, I will only dye bamboo now.

I've not found bamboo socks, but have fondled bamboo sock yarn. It is wonderful.

    Your dyed pieces are great!
