I just made 6 pillow cases yesterday, and top stitched along the seam where they are ironed - towards the cuff. Now I am thinking maybe I should sew another line directly on the strip before I wash them...hmmmmmmm It might make them lay flat permanently.....

What is the "burrito style" pillowcase? Thank you.

I've narrowed that strip to just a little flange type ........looked at one of my store bought when I first did one and have been doing it that way since...

I cut my accent strip 3" I pin it in place (along the body of the pillowcase) unfolded and stitch an 1/8 inside the pressed fold. You can see the white stitches where the arrow points to. Then I continue the rest of the "burrito" procedure.

Me, too. I think it looks less "homemade" with the narrower accent strip. I cut mine about 7/8 inch wide - so less than 1/4 inch shows when the pillowcase is finished.

This is what I do too, also noticed they launder much better, the ones before I did this all curl and twist up, and I'm not about to start ironing pillowcases, not looking for something to do! LOL!

I also sew this strip to the main part of the pillow case before I sew up the sides and bottom. It only takes 1 more minute and gives a nice taylored took to the pillow case after washing. I do not like the look of a "rumpled" strip after it is washed.

The first couple of pillow cases I made I ironed the trim piece toward the cuff and top stitched it. It still seemed to try to lay the other way so I stopped trying to force it to go the other way. Now I just topstitch the folded edge to the main part of the pillow case and it always looks very nice.
